Research shows that the relationship between therapist and client is key to the success of the work.
Trust and a strong therapeutic alliance creates the opportunity for old patterns and beliefs to be examined and new, healthier ones to be forged.
I offer a free initial phone call so we can start to get to know each other and can decide if we'd like to book in a first session. Then, we'll be able to explore what you hope to get out of your therapy sessions - aim high! A great start is figuring out which direction you want to be facing and what your ideal goal will look like.
I take my work very seriously. And I also value a light-hearted approach when appropriate. It's so often your younger self who is worried and reluctant to change, so playfulness can help us use the same language with that part.
You get to decide what you talk about - I ask plenty of questions and offer lots of wonderings, but it's you who determines the pace. We can explore at length the effect your past has had on you, or we can gently glance back to help inform us of the best way to move forward.
The unconscious has long been a central tenet of psychotherapy. Day to day we rely on what's going on in our conscious awareness, yet there's so much more going on at an unconscious level.
We so often learn to distrust our intuition, our gut feeling, our 'knowing'. But this is to cut ourselves off from the inner wisdom which can so helpfully inform, motivate and guide us.
Shamanic drumming facilitates the way to unconscious insight. Journeying with the regular beat of the drum takes you quickly and efficiently to places of guidance, knowledge and wisdom - all of which is already inside of you.
I drum a 10-15 journey for you, alongside guided meditation. We'll work out together what works best for you. We then have the chance to explore what you've discovered and seen and together we can make sense of the insights you've gained.
Journeying is effective...and safe. Safer than dreaming - you can't always wake yourself up from a dream!
It's important that you do not drink any alcohol or take any drugs (other than prescribed medication) on the day leading up to your session
Sounds can evoke emotions in a way that words sometimes can't. They can help us access states of consciousness where we are more able to raise awareness, make changes and gain understandings.
It's the state of consciousness called theta - the stage just outside of sleep.
You might want to immerse in sound to facilitate a greater self-knowledge. We can explore together what you experienced during the sound immersion, or you may prefer to take some time to integrate what you have experienced.
Sound healing works on so many levels
- mental
- emotional
- physical
- spiritual
You may simply want to drop down into deep, deep relaxation, healing in itself.
You may choose to incorporate sound healing into regular psychotherapy sessions, or you may wish to experience sound healing as a standalone.
